I received a text from one of my brides with her first dilemma…one of her bridesmaids told her she could not be in the wedding. Although she has moved past this and we are looking on the bright side, this is a difficult situation to encounter.
To all the attendants out there, I would advise you to be very thoughtful in any decision you may make to remove yourself from the bridal party. If you are backing out of the wedding due to economic hardship, health reasons or a family crisis, keep the lines of communication open with the couple. Having this conversation could maintain a friendship and may allow you to participate in their wedding in another way. However, if you are backing out of the wedding due to other reasons, that is not generally advised.
